5.20.22- Jarod R. Facknitz
Over a period of 25 years, 10 full-length albums, and more than 1,000 live performances, singer-songwriter/guitarist/drummer Jarod R. Facknitz has been combining stirring originals rooted in Soul/Folk/Country/Blues with a sea of covers dating back to the 1930s, all while providing improvisational songs devoted to various members of the crowd. After beating the White Stripes for a Detroit Music Award in 2001, Jarod went on to perform alongside Ella Jenkins (the “First Lady of Children’s Music”) while also teaching and leading over 100 performances at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago. With a voice that jazz saxophonist Manny Bances describes as sounding like, “someone let the sunshine out of a broken heart,” Jarod R. Facknitz brings a sense of humor, vulnerability, and refreshing sincerity to every performance.
